David Spector, owner and principal, has been a senior level security
professional in private corporations and government
agencies for more than 20 years. He brings keen
insight and a practical hands-on approach to
vulnerability identification and resolution. In
addition to conducting comprehensive risk
assessments for a variety of clients, he has taught
hundreds of courses and seminars in
security best
practices, risk assessment methodology,
vulnerability identification and countermeasure
effectiveness, and policy and procedure development.
As
owner of Secure Strategies, David provides his
clients a total solution to their security needs
including an assessment of vulnerabilities, disaster
preparedness training, policy and procedure creation
and development, employee training and other
remedies as needed.
Prior
to Secure Strategies, David was the Director of
Consulting Services for Applied Risk Management, a
professional security services provider to
corporations and government agencies. He managed
hundreds of security assessments at major public &
private facilities including water treatment plants,
universities, defense contractors, wastewater
facilities, power plants, biopharmaceutical firms
and medical facilities. His successes include the
reduction of facility vulnerabilities by an average
of 75%. Because of his work, corporations realized a
reduced risk of terrorist attacks, burglary,
workplace violence, corporate espionage, insider
theft and sabotage.
David
also worked at @stake, Inc., an
internationally-recognized computer security
consulting firm. As their Director of Physical
Security, his role encompassed all aspects of
protection for the company including the oversight,
design and operation of the security program at all
national and international locations. David was also
the Managing Physical Security Consultant for the
organization, traveling to client locations to
assist with their security needs.
Before @stake, David held multiple positions at the
Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General.
Starting as an Environmental Investigator with the
multi-jurisdictional Environmental Strike Force, he
was later promoted to Deputy Director of the IT
Department. While in that role he was asked to
assume the additional duties of Head of Security,
where he was responsible for all security issues at
the AG’s office including visitor control,
emergency response training, instructing classes in
mail bomb identification and the management of
security systems at all OAG locations across the
state.
David is also involved with ASIS International, a
professional security organization with 33,000
members worldwide. In 2005 he was the Chairman of
the Boston Chapter, an organization with more than
